# VPN vs HaloVPN

VPN and HaloVPN both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 74% of HaloVPN's written reviews are positive against 37% of VPN's. HaloVPN also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and chart position (#204 vs unranked). VPN's advantage is ratings volume (79K vs 15K) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and HaloVPN sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for VPN against 4.7 for HaloVPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 79K ratings behind it against 15K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 37% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 74% of HaloVPN's.

VPN ships an update every 2 months, HaloVPN every 4 days. Both last shipped on October 18, 2026.
