# VPN vs Hola VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hola VPN at 73% against VPN's 37%. Hola VPN also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). VPN's advantage is ratings volume (79K vs 7.4K) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Hola VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hola VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 79K ratings behind it against 7.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 37% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 73% of Hola VPN's.

VPN ships an update every 2 months, Hola VPN monthly. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
