# VPN vs Secure VPN Proxy

VPN and Secure VPN Proxy both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 85% of Secure VPN Proxy's written reviews are positive against 37% of VPN's. Secure VPN Proxy also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). VPN's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (79K vs 4.6K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Secure VPN Proxy sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for VPN against 4.6 for Secure VPN Proxy. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 79K ratings behind it against 4.6K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 37% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 85% of Secure VPN Proxy's.

VPN ships an update every 2 months, Secure VPN Proxy monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
