# Frontier Communicator vs WREC

The clearest difference is rating: Frontier Communicator at 3.7 against WREC's 2.9. Frontier Communicator also leads on ratings volume (77 vs 12) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17.0). WREC's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 12 months) and review sentiment (25% vs 0%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Frontier Communicator holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frontier Communicator has 77 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Frontier Communicator's written reviews are positive against 25% of WREC's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Frontier Communicator ships an update every 12 months, WREC every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
