# Text Capture vs Camera

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Text Capture at 2.7K against Camera's 6. Camera's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.5). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text Capture sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Camera sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text Capture holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text Capture has 2.7K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Text Capture ships an update weekly, Camera every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
