# Text Capture vs IDB POS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: IDB POS at none against Text Capture's 1. Text Capture's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 13 months) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 26.2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text Capture sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. IDB POS asks for nothing beyond the download.

Text Capture ships an update weekly, IDB POS every 13 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
