# My FileManager vs Document Reader

The clearest difference is ratings volume: My FileManager at 17K against Document Reader's 11. My FileManager also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). Document Reader's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. My FileManager sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Document Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

My FileManager holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: My FileManager has 17K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two.

My FileManager ships an update fortnightly, Document Reader every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
