# Commit2 vs scoutSMART Basic

The clearest difference is update cadence: Commit2 at every 2 weeks against scoutSMART Basic's every 4 months. Commit2 also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.1). scoutSMART Basic's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Commit2 against 5.0 for scoutSMART Basic. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: scoutSMART Basic has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
