# Paymo Project Management vs ActiveCollab

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Paymo Project Management at 81% against ActiveCollab's 38%. ActiveCollab's advantage is monetization model (free vs freemium) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ActiveCollab holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 60 and 42 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of Paymo Project Management's written reviews are positive against 38% of ActiveCollab's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Paymo Project Management ships an update every 5 weeks, ActiveCollab every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
