# SOMM TV vs Cellar Somm

The clearest difference is monetization model: Cellar Somm at freemium against SOMM TV's subscription. Cellar Somm also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months). SOMM TV's advantage is ratings volume (452 vs 1) and chart position (#121 vs unranked). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SOMM TV sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Cellar Somm sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $14.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for SOMM TV against 5.0 for Cellar Somm. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SOMM TV has 452 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 98% of SOMM TV's written reviews are positive against 100% of Cellar Somm's.

SOMM TV ships an update every 3 months, Cellar Somm every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
