# Amcrest Smart Home vs Scrypted

The clearest difference is update cadence: Scrypted at every 3 weeks against Amcrest Smart Home's every 4 months. Scrypted also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3). Amcrest Smart Home's advantage is ratings volume (2.4K vs 20) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
