# AQ vs StepFun

The clearest difference is rating: AQ at 5.0 against StepFun's 4.3. AQ also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 13). StepFun's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (8 vs 1). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StepFun sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. AQ asks for nothing beyond the download.

AQ holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepFun has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AQ ships an update every 2 months, StepFun every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
