# Xiao Yi vs Sub Cipher

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Sub Cipher at 100% against Xiao Yi's 50%. Sub Cipher also leads on ratings volume (4 vs 1). Xiao Yi's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 3.8) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 7 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Xiao Yi holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Xiao Yi's written reviews are positive against 100% of Sub Cipher's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Xiao Yi ships an update every 2 weeks, Sub Cipher every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on September 13, 2026 and September 12, 2026 respectively.
