# MX Player vs iVMS

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: iVMS at none against MX Player's 1. iVMS also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 34%) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 12.0). MX Player's advantage is ratings volume (4.3K vs 75) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MX Player sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. iVMS asks for nothing beyond the download.

iVMS holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MX Player has 4.3K ratings behind it against 75, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 34% of MX Player's written reviews are positive against 50% of iVMS's.

MX Player ships an update monthly, iVMS every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
