# MX Player vs Picsta

The clearest difference is update cadence: Picsta at every 5 days against MX Player's monthly. MX Player's advantage is iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MX Player sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Picsta sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MX Player ships an update monthly, Picsta every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
