# Gear vs iShield

The clearest difference is review sentiment: iShield at 100% against Gear's 56%. iShield also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.0). Gear's advantage is ratings volume (253 vs 10) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Gear sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and iShield sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iShield holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gear has 253 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 56% of Gear's written reviews are positive against 100% of iShield's.

Gear ships an update every 5 days, iShield every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
