# LucidID vs Rootdown MS

The clearest difference is rating: LucidID at 4.8 against Rootdown MS's 4.2. LucidID also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (3.4K vs 27). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

LucidID holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LucidID has 3.4K ratings behind it against 27, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of LucidID's written reviews are positive against 64% of Rootdown MS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LucidID ships an update every 2 months, Rootdown MS every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
