# ARPen vs DateNotes

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ARPen at none against DateNotes's 1. DateNotes's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DateNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. ARPen asks for nothing beyond the download.

ARPen ships an update every 4 months, DateNotes every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
