# The Planet Speaks vs OptiLingo

The clearest difference is monetization model: OptiLingo at free with in-app purchases against The Planet Speaks's subscription. OptiLingo also leads on ratings volume (59 vs 4) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). The Planet Speaks's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 67%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. The Planet Speaks sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and OptiLingo sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.0 for The Planet Speaks against 4.0 for OptiLingo. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OptiLingo has 59 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of The Planet Speaks's written reviews are positive against 67% of OptiLingo's.

The Planet Speaks ships an update monthly, OptiLingo every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
