# MTG Scanner vs InkcasteR

The clearest difference is ratings volume: MTG Scanner at 3.8K against InkcasteR's 265. InkcasteR's advantage is review sentiment (58% vs 44%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MTG Scanner sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and InkcasteR sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for MTG Scanner against 4.7 for InkcasteR. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MTG Scanner has 3.8K ratings behind it against 265, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 44% of MTG Scanner's written reviews are positive against 58% of InkcasteR's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
