# AR Search! vs Word Detection

The clearest difference is rating: Word Detection at 5.0 against AR Search!'s 3.6. AR Search!'s advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 33%) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AR Search! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Word Detection sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Word Detection holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AR Search! has 9 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of AR Search!'s written reviews are positive against 33% of Word Detection's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

AR Search! ships an update every 2 months, Word Detection every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
