# SmartLoop vs LUX Control

The clearest difference is update cadence: SmartLoop at every 2 months against LUX Control's every 6 months. SmartLoop also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). LUX Control's advantage is ratings volume (73 vs 4). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for SmartLoop against 4.9 for LUX Control. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LUX Control has 73 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

SmartLoop ships an update every 2 months, LUX Control every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on September 26, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
