# Character Maker vs Cutemii

The clearest difference is ads: Cutemii at none against Character Maker's shown. Cutemii also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). Character Maker's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (7.5K vs 191). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Character Maker sells 13 one-off in-app purchases and Cutemii sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Character Maker holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Character Maker has 7.5K ratings behind it against 191, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 89% of Character Maker's written reviews are positive against 72% of Cutemii's.

Character Maker ships an update every 5 weeks, Cutemii fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
