# Mobile Scanner App vs SoftVPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Mobile Scanner App at 80% against SoftVPN's 33%. Mobile Scanner App also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.7) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). SoftVPN's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mobile Scanner App sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and SoftVPN sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mobile Scanner App holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mobile Scanner App has 57K ratings behind it against 119, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of Mobile Scanner App's written reviews are positive against 33% of SoftVPN's.

Mobile Scanner App ships an update fortnightly, SoftVPN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
