# SuperChinese vs Edmicro HSK

The clearest difference is rating: SuperChinese at 4.9 against Edmicro HSK's 4.3. SuperChinese also leads on ratings volume (3.9K vs 3) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). Edmicro HSK's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SuperChinese sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and Edmicro HSK sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SuperChinese holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SuperChinese has 3.9K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of SuperChinese's written reviews are positive against 100% of Edmicro HSK's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SuperChinese ships an update weekly, Edmicro HSK every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
