# VKos vs Plant Identifier

The clearest difference is review sentiment: VKos at 68% against Plant Identifier's 19%. VKos also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Plant Identifier's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 2.8) and ratings volume (658 vs 132). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VKos sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Plant Identifier sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Plant Identifier holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 132 and 658 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of VKos's written reviews are positive against 19% of Plant Identifier's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

VKos ships an update every 6 weeks, Plant Identifier monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
