# AVDocuments vs Ethiopian Calendar

The clearest difference is rating: Ethiopian Calendar at 5.0 against AVDocuments's 3.9. Ethiopian Calendar also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). AVDocuments's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AVDocuments sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Ethiopian Calendar sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ethiopian Calendar holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AVDocuments has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AVDocuments ships an update every 10 days, Ethiopian Calendar every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
