# Dots and Boxes Connect vs Silly Seance

The clearest difference is monetization model: Dots and Boxes Connect at free against Silly Seance's free with in-app purchases. Dots and Boxes Connect also leads on iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). Silly Seance's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (7 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dots and Boxes Connect sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and Silly Seance sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Dots and Boxes Connect against 4.9 for Silly Seance. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Silly Seance has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Dots and Boxes Connect ships an update every 5 months, Silly Seance every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
