# Mac Extreme vs Code Play

The clearest difference is update cadence: Mac Extreme at every 3 weeks against Code Play's every 11 months. Mac Extreme also leads on ratings volume (48 vs 5) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Mac Extreme holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mac Extreme has 48 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Mac Extreme ships an update every 3 weeks, Code Play every 11 months. Both last shipped on October 7, 2026.
