# Crowbox vs Glitch Video Effect

The clearest difference is rating: Crowbox at 5.0 against Glitch Video Effect's 4.3. Crowbox also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (100% vs 76%). Glitch Video Effect's advantage is update cadence (every 4 months vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 15). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crowbox sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Glitch Video Effect sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Crowbox holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Glitch Video Effect has 1.2K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Crowbox's written reviews are positive against 76% of Glitch Video Effect's.

Crowbox ships an update every 22 months, Glitch Video Effect every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
