# scoutSMART Basic vs MVP

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: scoutSMART Basic at none against MVP's 4. MVP's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (38 vs 5). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MVP sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. scoutSMART Basic asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for scoutSMART Basic against 4.9 for MVP. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MVP has 38 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

scoutSMART Basic ships an update every 3 months, MVP weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
