# ESP Alexa vs Set Up Smart Speaker

The clearest difference is rating: Set Up Smart Speaker at 4.7 against ESP Alexa's 2.3. Set Up Smart Speaker also leads on ratings volume (383 vs 3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). ESP Alexa's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Set Up Smart Speaker holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Set Up Smart Speaker has 383 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of ESP Alexa's written reviews are positive against 25% of Set Up Smart Speaker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ESP Alexa ships an update every 2 months, Set Up Smart Speaker every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
