# simPODD vs Scene & Heard Pro

The clearest difference is monetization model: simPODD at free with in-app purchases against Scene & Heard Pro's subscription. simPODD also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (23 vs 6). Scene & Heard Pro's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 78%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. simPODD sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $13.99 per month and Scene & Heard Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

simPODD holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 23 and 6 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of simPODD's written reviews are positive against 100% of Scene & Heard Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

simPODD ships an update every 2 months, Scene & Heard Pro every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
