# Password Manager vs App Lock

Password Manager and App Lock both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 77% of App Lock's written reviews are positive against 30% of Password Manager's. App Lock also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 8) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Password Manager's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (17K vs 183). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Password Manager sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. App Lock asks for nothing beyond the download.

Password Manager holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Password Manager has 17K ratings behind it against 183, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 30% of Password Manager's written reviews are positive against 77% of App Lock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Password Manager ships an update every 2 months, App Lock every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
