# FreeTime vs Smile Todo

The clearest difference is monetization model: FreeTime at free with in-app purchases against Smile Todo's subscription. FreeTime also leads on review sentiment (96% vs 88%). Smile Todo's advantage is ratings volume (19K vs 9). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FreeTime sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Smile Todo sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for FreeTime against 4.9 for Smile Todo. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smile Todo has 19K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 96% of FreeTime's written reviews are positive against 88% of Smile Todo's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
