# Glitch Video Effect vs VHS cam

The clearest difference is ads: VHS cam at none against Glitch Video Effect's shown. VHS cam also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). Glitch Video Effect's advantage is device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Glitch Video Effect sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and VHS cam sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VHS cam holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1.2K and 759 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of Glitch Video Effect's written reviews are positive against 73% of VHS cam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Glitch Video Effect ships an update every 4 months, VHS cam every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
