# Poison Ivy vs Leaf Identification

The clearest difference is price: Leaf Identification at Free against Poison Ivy's $0.99. Leaf Identification also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 15 months). Poison Ivy's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and review sentiment (50% vs 34%). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Leaf Identification is free to download; Poison Ivy costs $0.99 up front. Leaf Identification sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Poison Ivy asks for nothing beyond the download.

Leaf Identification holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Leaf Identification has 1.4K ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Poison Ivy's written reviews are positive against 34% of Leaf Identification's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Poison Ivy ships an update every 15 months, Leaf Identification fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 8, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
