Depending of your phone model there's a chance Ares Alpha will automatically be closed after a longer standby time. Using a power bank, you will avoid this type of situation, ensuring yourself basically unlimited use of Ares during the game. * To avoid accidents during the game we recommend the use of a protective cover for your phone. * We recommend the use of a Bluetooth smart band for receiving app notifications. The app was successfully tested on a Xiaomi Mi Smart Band, but any other type that allows app notifications should work. Ares Alpha it's heavy optimized to work on areas with poor levels of phone signal. But, in the rare cases where you don't have any mobile data access, Ares Alpha won't work. Warning: Ares Alpha is designed for airsoft and paintball activities. Do not use it in any other situations like touristic orientation. www.ares-alpha.com Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

TacLink is a lightweight field coordination tool for airsoft teams. Keep your squad on the same page with a shared live map, organized teams, and host-controlled games — built to stay useful even when connectivity gets patchy. LIVE TACTICAL MAP See your teammates' live positions on a terrain-focused map during a match. Place enemy markers so everyone shares the same picture of the field in real time. TEAMS & ROLES Create a team, invite members, and manage who's in. Owner and admin roles keep control in the right hands. HOST-CONTROLLED GAMES Game hosts create a game, draw the playable area directly on the map, and invite teams. Only invited teams can join and see the action. BUILT FOR THE FIELD Poor signal in the woods is expected, not an afterthought. TacLink keeps showing your cached map and last known state when the connection drops, so you're never left with a blank screen mid-game. TACLINK PRO Unlock live game features — shared teammate positions and enemy markers — with a TacLink Pro subscription. Whether you're running a small skirmish or coordinating multiple teams across a large field, TacLink gives you shared tactical awareness without the hassle of group chats and screenshots. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: TacLink at none against Ares Alpha's 2. TacLink also leads on ads (none vs shown). Ares Alpha's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
