# Barcode vs Qr

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Barcode at none against Qr's 6. Barcode also leads on review sentiment (65% vs 36%). Qr's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (3.6K vs 535). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Qr sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Barcode asks for nothing beyond the download.

Qr holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Qr has 3.6K ratings behind it against 535, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Barcode's written reviews are positive against 36% of Qr's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barcode ships an update every 3 weeks, Qr fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 1, 2026.
