# Emma vs Kashew

The clearest difference is monetization model: Emma at free against Kashew's freemium. Emma also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). Kashew's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Emma against 5.0 for Kashew. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kashew has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Emma ships an update monthly, Kashew every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
