# CodaMusic vs SPNDAT

The clearest difference is monetization model: SPNDAT at free with in-app purchases against CodaMusic's subscription. SPNDAT also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). CodaMusic's advantage is ratings volume (1.7K vs 18). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CodaMusic sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and SPNDAT sells 14 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SPNDAT holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CodaMusic has 1.7K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 66% of CodaMusic's written reviews are positive against 80% of SPNDAT's.

CodaMusic ships an update every 3 weeks, SPNDAT weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 20, 2026 respectively.
