# VPN vs GhostGuard

The clearest difference is monetization model: VPN at freemium against GhostGuard's subscription. VPN also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). GhostGuard's advantage is review sentiment (82% vs 50%) and ratings volume (986 vs 93). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and GhostGuard sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for VPN against 4.5 for GhostGuard. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GhostGuard has 986 ratings behind it against 93, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 82% of GhostGuard's.

VPN ships an update every 2 weeks, GhostGuard every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
