# VPN vs Cable VPN

The clearest difference is ads: VPN at none against Cable VPN's shown. Cable VPN's advantage is review sentiment (69% vs 50%) and ratings volume (726 vs 94). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Cable VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for VPN against 4.6 for Cable VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cable VPN has 726 ratings behind it against 94, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 69% of Cable VPN's.

VPN ships an update every 2 weeks, Cable VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
