# Bookshelf vs Micro Reading

The clearest difference is update cadence: Bookshelf at fortnightly against Micro Reading's monthly. Micro Reading's advantage is device support (5 vs 2) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bookshelf sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Micro Reading sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Bookshelf ships an update fortnightly, Micro Reading monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
