# Real Member vs Theory

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Real Member at 100% against Theory's 18%. Real Member also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Theory's advantage is ratings volume (912 vs 5) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Real Member holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Theory has 912 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Real Member's written reviews are positive against 18% of Theory's.

Real Member ships an update every 5 months, Theory every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
