# Smart DNS Proxy vs Gambit

The clearest difference is monetization model: Smart DNS Proxy at free with in-app purchases against Gambit's subscription. Smart DNS Proxy also leads on device support (4 vs 2). Gambit's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 11 days vs monthly). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smart DNS Proxy sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Gambit sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Smart DNS Proxy ships an update monthly, Gambit every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
