# MapDraw App vs Chalk Draw

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MapDraw App at none against Chalk Draw's 1. MapDraw App also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (75% vs 59%). Chalk Draw's advantage is ratings volume (3.6K vs 7) and update cadence (every 5 months vs every 18 months). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chalk Draw sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MapDraw App asks for nothing beyond the download.

Chalk Draw holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chalk Draw has 3.6K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of MapDraw App's written reviews are positive against 59% of Chalk Draw's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MapDraw App ships an update every 18 months, Chalk Draw every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
