# Light Meter vs Optaxis

The clearest difference is update cadence: Optaxis at every 4 days against Light Meter's every 2 weeks. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Light Meter sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Optaxis sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Light Meter ships an update every 2 weeks, Optaxis every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
