# Cipchat vs K9 Chat

Cipchat and K9 Chat both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of K9 Chat's written reviews are positive against 20% of Cipchat's. K9 Chat also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Cipchat's advantage is ratings volume (61 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.5). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
