# Stagger vs Frames

The clearest difference is rating: Frames at 4.7 against Stagger's 3.9. Frames also leads on ratings volume (624 vs 45) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). Stagger's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and review sentiment (59% vs 29%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Stagger sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Frames sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Frames holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frames has 624 ratings behind it against 45, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Stagger's written reviews are positive against 29% of Frames's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Stagger ships an update every 2 weeks, Frames every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
